Vampires aren't the only ones who benefit from blood:
Blood needed primarily to treat many types of cancers and anemic conditions, for surgeries of all kinds (transplants, heart, and hip replacements), for treating premature newborns, as well as for automobile accident victims.
More than 1/3 of recipients are children, many of whom are cancer patients.
One child's daily treatment for leukemia can require 6 to 10 units of platelets per day. That's from 6 to 10 different people.
