Lee Murphy is a well-known author and artist who lives in Southern California. Throughout his life, Lee has had an endless fascination of ancient or mysterious creatures and this passion can be seen in a variety of different ways. As a former model maker for the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History and as a free-lance artist he has crafted everything from intense life-size gorillas to frighteningly realistic sharks.
In addition to being a three-dimensional artist, Lee is also the author of four books. He has a popular series of books that chronicle the suspenseful and somewhat hair-raising adventures of a cryptozoologist. These books explore everything from an ancient sea creature to a swamp monster and Bigfoot. Future books will look at other cryptozoology figures like Chupacabras and current day dinosaurs from Africa.
Lee’s latest book, Ygor, is a bit of a departure from the Kodiak series as it’s a deep study of the character made famous by Mary Shelly. Lee took a relatively minor, but well known character in classical literature, and gave him new dimension and depth. This book showcases his diverse writing talents and gives the reader a new perspective on a classic tale.
As Lee’s interests run the gamete of cryptozoology, monsters, paranormal, and UFOs he has a huge amount of material for upcoming books and new sculptures. Lee hopes his books will give readers a glimpse into what some of these mysterious creatures might have been and that it makes people seek ways to explore things further.
