Can’t wait for the Marche du Nain Rouge? Join Believe It Tour and come to Traffic Jam & Snug on Saturday night, 3/24/12, for a pre-Marche celebration!
Traffic Jam & Snug is putting on a Mardi Gras style crawfish boil that’s open to everyone. Not only is Nain Rouge legendary, but so are crawfish. Legend has it that when the French-Acadians were expelled by the British from Nova Scotia, they were warmly welcomed by the French living in Louisiana. They loved their lobster so much that they even brought some of them down to Louisiana. The tale is that the lobsters lost their appetite and shrunk so much that the Acadians, now Cajuns, renamed them Crawfish! To help wash down the crawfish, Traffic Jam and Snug will even be offering their happy hour pricing of $3 a pint for beer.Traffic Jam and Snug will also be serving other French inspired celebration food, including a Nain Rouge inspired “King Cake.” Another tradition from Louisiana is baking cakes with a small trinket baby (usually ceramic) inside for Mardi Gras. The lucky person who gets the piece with the baby will have a year of good fortune. Traffic Jam and Snug will be making a special Nain Rouge red velvet devil’s food cake with a devilish little trinket inside. The lucky person who gets the piece with the little imp in it will have a year free of the red devil’s influence and a year of good fortune!
Be sure to stop in early and be one of the first to get some of the exclusive, fun new merchandise featuring the Nain Rouge art of Michael Esordi. Born and raised in the Detroit area, Michael is returning to support this great community-building event of Marche du Nain Rouge.
