This morning when I heard the news from Miami, about how the police had to shoot a man that was literally eating the face of another man, I immediately wondered if this was some sort of zombie attack or something worse.
For those of you who somehow missed this story, over the holiday weekend Miami police were alerted to a bizarre situation. A naked man was attacking another man and cannibalizing his face. The officer yelled for the man to stop, but the attacker ignored the plea. The officer then opened fire and shot the man five times before the attack finally ended.
Sounds just like a standard zombie attack, right?
Well, myself along with many others thought so. All day I was thinking about how to make the connection and write a great zombie story for Believe It Tour. After reading more of the reports and discovering the horrifying facts of the story, I have decided not to go in that direction. Rather the focus of the story should be on a very sad and tragic case of drug addiction. There’s nothing amusing about that.
The latest report I read suggests the man was high on bath salts. Not the variety you’d put in the bath tub, but rather they are amphetamine-like chemicals. This substance would cause his body temperature to become extremely hot, which was probably what caused him to strip down. It is also known to create super human strength, thus the five bullets stopping the attacker, and other scary symptoms.
The end result is a dead aggressor and another man in critical condition with serious wounds on his face. It makes you wonder which is worse – real humans or zombies.
